There is a proposed bond election coming up on February 9 for the city of Round Rock which will fund a new rec center among other parks and recreation improvements.

See recent article https://communityimpact.com/austin/round-rock/government/2023/01/15/city-leaders-lay-out-priorities-in-anticipation-of-the-largest-proposed-bond-in-round-rock-history/?utm_campaign=Impact%3A%20Round%20Rock&utm_medium=email&_hsmi=241922374&_hsenc=p2ANqtz-84C1eNtd0AqF141j0jaIovp80Tg0t2LNnaTDwAcdd6pX_ZsDDTddsEbwwlqbb_MvJE45qIVpht3yp5JkQXVIy-nXAycw&utm_content=241922374&utm_source=hs_email

The current proposal, which will affect the existing tennis courts, is to build 12 new courts off Kenny Fort Blvd and demolish the existing 12 courts. The city recently spent $1M to resurface the existing 12 courts in 2020. Building new courts would cost approximately $12M (or more) and that does not including parking and parking lot lighting. Also, keep in mind that if funding is cut, the parking lot lighting will most likely be cut. The board feels this $13M is a waste of taxpayers money. Instead of the existing proposal, the board is advocating that we keep the existing courts and add another 4 courts to the current 12 courts. This would cost approximately $3-4M, saving taxpayers nearly $10M, AND giving the Round Rock community a high quality tennis center with 16 courts.

We encourage you to please email the city council and city managers at the email addresses below. The board is emailing them stating we would like to keep the existing 12 courts and build 4 more courts adjacent to the current courts north of Bank C. Please tell any of your friends and neighbors to email as well.
